the river turns

the river turns, the road bends, as i find myself alone again. and all that's left for me, all that's left for me to do, is take more risks and chances before i'm through

why must you find fault? why must you analyze? to my words you add salt with the way you criticize. you're always thinking, thinking, shooting bullets at me 'til i'm sinking, sinking, 'cause it's not what i thought it would be

i taste the salty river. it splashes in my eyes. i'm warm and cold when i remember. too fast, too soon, too wise

and as i lie here on the water's shore, i try to gain my strength to stand alone once more. but now you're running for me, wanting me back desperately. but it's too late - i'm blind. i no longer see

the river turns, the road bends, and i find myself... alone again...
